Fugro has successfully completed the first deepwater autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) site survey for Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP). Ceri Powell, BSP’s Managing Director, delivered a congratulatory note acknowledging the quality of Fugro’s work and HSSE leadership shown throughout the campaign. TerraSond Completes First Geophysical Survey for Mayflower Wind

TerraSond, an Acteon company, has completed a high-resolution geophysical survey for Mayflower Wind, a joint venture between Shell New Energies US LLC and EDPR Offshore North America LLC. The two-month campaign, which began in July 2019, surveyed an area, 20 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, USA, that can support up to 1,600 MW of offshore wind. The wind farm is scheduled to deliver energy in the mid-2020s and has the potential to power up to 680,000 homes. The project is TerraSond’s first with Mayflower Wind.

The 410 km2 survey, which has a contract value of over USD 50 million, will be performed for a prominent energy company using Seabed Geosolutions’ proprietary Manta® OBN technology and remotely operated vehicles. The four-component (4C) project will begin in the second quarter of 2020 and will take around 4 months to complete.

Fugro completes deepwater AUV surveys for Shell in US Gulf of Mexico

Fugro has completed several high-resolution geophysical surveys in the US Gulf of Mexico for Shell International Exploration and Production Company. The project required data collection over multiple deepwater lease blocks in the greater Perdido and Mars development areas to support clearance of potential environmental, engineering, geological and archaeological hazards ahead of planned drilling activities.

BIG ISLAND, HAWAII July 1, 2019 – Jupiter Research Foundation and Whale Trust are pleased to announce the publication of the results of the first leg of their autonomous Wave Glider HUMPACS (Humpback Pacific Survey) acoustic survey in Journal of the Acoustic Society of America – Express Letters. During a 100-day nearly 7,000 km (3,800 nm) round trip survey on a line between Hawaii and Mexico within the 2018 winter breeding season, humpback whale calls were heard in mid-ocean basin, halfway between the known near-shore assemblies.

iXblue selected to conduct future Groix & Belle-Île pilot wind farm geophysical survey

iXblue’s Sea Operations division has been selected by EOLFI, the “Ferme Eolienne Flottante de Groix & Belle-Île” delegated project contactor, to conduct the geophysical survey of the future Groix & Belle-Île pilot wind farm located in the South of Brittany, off the West coast of France. The survey, that began earlier this week, will last for about five days and will be conducted by a dedicated crew of 5 iXblue hydrographic surveyors and geophysicist engineers onboard the company’s own Marine Renewable Energy (MRE) hydrographic research vessel, FeliX.
