Researchers Head to Greenland for Ambitious Science Mission

An international team of researchers are heading to Greenland this week (16 July 2026) for a six-week expedition to study how quickly the ice sheet’s rapidly melting fjord glaciers are pushing the Atlantic Ocean towards a critical climate tipping point. The team will travel on the UK’s polar research ship RRS Sir David Attenborough, and use a range of sophisticated equipment, such as a fleet of airborne drones, marine robots, satellites and sensors to study the glaciers and surrounding ocean. The data collected will be used to improve our predictions for the future of Greenland’s glaciers and their impact on the surrounding ocean as they melt.

Sonardyne Helps BAS Navigate on GIANT Climate Mission

An ambitious climate science mission using marine robots, in formation and closer to glaciers than they’ve been before, sets sail this summer with support from Sonardyne underwater positioning technology. The GIANT project, led by British Antarctic Survey (BAS), is investigating how the warming ocean is making Greenland’s tidewater glaciers melt — and what this means for our global climate. To do this, the UK’s polar research ship RRS Sir David Attenborough will send a fleet of autonomous vehicles – aerial, surface and subsea – as a connected observing system, into one of the world’s most extreme environments to get the most comprehensive data possible.

DeepOcean Completes Subsea Removals at Spirit Energy’s Seven Seas and Grove West Fields

Global ocean services provider DeepOcean has successfully completed the recovery of the remaining subsea wellhead protection structure at the Spirit Energy-operated Seven Seas field, as well as the disconnection of subsea infrastructure at the operator’s nearby Grove West field in the southern North Sea, using proprietary tooling developed in-house for decommissioning.

Bordelon Marine Delivers the MV Lilly Bordelon

Bordelon Marine has completed the conversion and redelivery of the MV Lilly Bordelon, a Stingray Series 260 Class DP-2 Ultra-Light Intervention Vessel (ULIV). Repurposed from an existing platform, the Lilly Bordelon has been transformed into a modern subsea intervention vessel designed to deliver cost-efficient, flexible solutions for offshore operations. The vessel features over 5,500 sq. ft. of clear deck space, a mezzanine deck supporting two work-class ROVs, with an integrated ROV control room.
