ROVOP and WFS Technologies announce collaboration to drive down subsea costs

Independent subsea remotely operated vehicle (ROV) service provider ROVOP and wireless instrumentation and control solutions developer WFS Technologies have today, (Monday 1st February), announced a new collaboration effort to reduce certain operating costs by up to 80% and extend asset life by years.

C-Kore Systems awarded contract for BP for Subsea Monitoring Tools

C-Kore Systems Ltd, has been awarded a contract for BP to purchase their C-Kore Subsea Monitoring tools. BP trialed the tools on earlier umbilical installation projects and will now purchase a number of units for their prestigious Quad 204 project in the North Sea. Due to their unique design, the CKore units can monitor the insulation resistance and continuity of umbilicals during the complete installation process, even with both ends of the umbilical submerged to full deployment depth.

Robot-subs inform protection of English deep-sea corals

A fleet of robotic submarines, based at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC), head-quartered in in Southampton, have been used to map vulnerable cold-water coral reefs in the deep ocean off southwest England. This data set is being used to inform the management of a new Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ) that protects the only area of deep-sea coral habitat in English waters. This MCZ forms part of a national network that is being expanded this week as a second round of designated sites are announced by Defra.

Tidewater Subsea Charters the M/V Brandon Bordelon

Tidewater Subsea charters the Jones Act compliant MV Brandon Bordelon for (60) sixty days plus options. Tidewater Subsea is mobilizing (2) two FMC Technologies Schilling HP 150 ROVs to the vessel. The Brandon is now fully capable to perform a variety of operations, including IMR (inspection, maintenance and repair), light construction, survey and inspection work.
