Ocean Installer Becomes Havfram: Increased Commitment to Offshore Wind

Today, Ocean Installer becomes Havfram. The name change reflects the company's increased commitment to
offshore wind. The offshore wind-commitment will draw on the company’s existing insight and experience from complex subsea operations.



Havfram aims to become a leading company within installation and development of offshore wind projects, in addition to already being a prominent provider of traditional subsea services.

To better emphasise the increased commitment to offshore wind and create new business opportunities, the company has established the following business areas: Hav Dyp, Hav Vind and Hav Kraft. Hav Dyp will include the compay’s current operations within subsea oil and gas projects. The business unit Hav Vind will carry out installations and project execution relating to offshore wind. Hav Kraft aims to become a leading consultant within the development of offshore wind farms, both nationally and internationally.

The solid revenues derived from our oil and gas projects, as well as our broad project and engineering expertise, are now being utilised to create a leading player within the offshore wind segment., says Havfram CEO, Odd Strømsnes.

In August, the company announced a collaboration with the shipyard group VARD to develop one of the world's most advanced installation vessels for offshore wind turbines. This specialized vessel will have the ability and capacity to install turbine components of 1,000 tonnes at a height of 150 metres.

demands and efficiency that have been developed through many years of work on the Norwegian continental shelf.", Strømsnes continues.

International energy companies are developing several large offshore wind projects over the coming years, in Europe, Asia, and on the US East Coast. The market for the installation of the latest giant turbines is therefore expected to increase significantly. Additionally, Norwegian energy companies are awarded large international tenders for offshore wind farms and it is natural for Havfram, as an existing supplier to these
companies, to participate in the development. In the future, these projects will be delivered through the business area Hav Vind.

There is also potential in offering consulting services related to the development and execution of offshore wind projects.

"We have already attracted strong expertise within renewable energy and offshore wind. Havfram will be a complete competence house in the planning, engineering, contracting and installation within the offshore wind segment, in addition to offering traditional subsea services.", says Odd Strømsnes.

Havfram expects a turnover of around NOK 2.5 billion this year. Havfram is a global company with 260 employees. It is headquartered in Stavanger, with offices in Oslo, Aberdeen, Dubai, Houston and Perth.
