Subsea 7 - DeepOcean Consortium Awarded Equinor Contracts Offshore Norway

A consortium between DeepOcean and Subsea7 was awarded two contracts by Equinor for the Irpa and Verdande field developments, located in the Norwegian Sea. The Irpa field development project, located in the Aasta Hansteen area at 1,350 metres water depth, involves a subsea tieback of approximately 80 kilometres to the Aasta Hansteen FPSO. The contract scope includes engineering, transportation and installation of a MEG pipeline, a production riser, umbilical, subsea structures and tie-ins.

Subsea 7 today announced the award of a sizeable1 contract by Aker BP for the Trell & Trine field development, located in the Alvheim area of the North Sea. The project involves a subsea tie-back of approximately 21 kilometers to the Alvheim FPSO, via the existing East Kameleon subsea manifold. The contract scope includes engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the pipelines, spools, protection covers and tie-ins using key vessels from Subsea 7’s fleet. The production pipeline is a pipe-in-pipe design.

Port of Aberdeen Welcomes First Vessel to South Harbour as Construction Continues at Pace

The Port of Aberdeen welcomed the first commercial vessel to Aberdeen South Harbour on Saturday 2 July, as construction of the £400 million port expansion continues at pace. Subsea 7’s Seven Atlantic dive support vessel berthed at Dunnottar Quay to change over the crew, offload project equipment and stock up on provisions after completing inspection, repair and maintenance work for EnQuest. The vessel will return to South Harbour later in the month for annual routine maintenance.

Ørsted, the world leader in offshore wind, has acquired a majority stake in the 100 MW Salamander floating offshore wind development project on the Scottish coast, entering a joint venture (JV) partnership with Simply Blue Group, a leading Irish blue economy developer in floating offshore wind, wave energy and low-impact aquaculture. Ørsted will own an 80% stake in the project as Simply Blue Group’s newest JV partner on the project, alongside minority JV partner, Subsea 7.

The awarded work is required to finalise the technical definition of the proposed development prior to Equinor and its partners making the final investment decision (FID) planned late 2022. The FEED study will begin immediately.

Subsea 7 and technology partner FLASC B.V., are pleased to be awarded a grant from the UK government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for £471,760, to further develop an innovative offshore energy storage system. Funding has been awarded as part of the Longer Duration Energy Storage (LODES) Competition. The competition recognises the transition to increasing wind generated renewable energy, which presents growing opportunities for storage systems that support a secure, flexible and reliable electrical power supply.
