Following a 7-month competitive bidding process, the French Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (Shom) placed an order at the end of December for a new autonomous underwater micro-drone (μAUV), the NemoSens model, manufactured by the French company RTsys. This order is part of the transformation plan for hydrographic and oceanographic data acquisition methods launched by Shom in 2024.

Phoenix’s International (Phoenix) recently assisted the Naval Sea System Command (NAVSEA) Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV) with the successful recovery of an MH-60R helicopter and an F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter aircraft. The two aircraft went down within 30 minutes of each other during routine flight operations off the USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) in the South China Sea on 26 October 2025. All crew members survived and were rescued.

Marine Robotics will Aid Restoration Efforts on Scottish Loch

A collaboration involving scientists and robotics engineers from the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) Enterprise team, Unique Group and the University of Glasgow is currently planning a major survey of the loch, following a successful trial of autonomous surface vehicles. The aim of the survey is to use the marine robotics to accurately survey the loch in order to build a habitat suitability model, which will inform the most effective site for reintroducing European flat oysters. The model will also indicate where flapper skate are most likely to lay their eggs.

Fugro Supports Mubadala Energy’s Deepwater Gas Development Offshore North Sumatra

The treated gas will be transported through a dedicated export pipeline to an Onshore Receiving Facility ) in Aceh, Indonesia. Geo-data will be acquired using Fugro’s deepwater autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and the robotic seafloor drill, Seafloor Drill 2, deployed from Indonesian support vessels.
