Zama-1 Spudded: Premier Oil Starts Drilling in Offshore Mexico

Premier is pleased to announce that the Zama-1 exploration well in Block 7 (Premier equity 25 per cent) in the shallow water Sureste Basin, offshore Mexico, was spudded at 0630 on 21 May 2017. This is the first exploration well to be drilled on acreage awarded in Mexico’s first international licencing round in 2015.

Proserv seals significant subsea contract with Premier Oil

Energy services company Proserv has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract with Premier Oil for work in Asia Pacific. Proserv will supply a subsea control system and associated equipment for the BIGP (Bison, Iguana & Gajah Puteri) development project, located in the Natuna Sea, Indonesia. The scope of supply is a three well subsea control system, which includes the company’s award winning Artemis 2G subsea electronics module, tied back to two platforms, Naga and Pelikan, in approximately 90m water depth. Bison and Iguana will tie back to the Pelikan platform and Gajah Puteri will tie back from a controls perspective to the Naga platform. The Gajah Puteri well is the longest step out at 21km.

With Solan on-stream later this year and Catcher in 2017, we expect both growing production and reduced debt levels. Amended financial covenants announced today provide balance sheet flexibility and demonstrate the on-going support of our capital providers. With the optionality in our portfolio, we are well placed for growth in a stronger oil price environment.”

Premier Oil awarded two blocks in Mexico’s Round 1

Premier is pleased to announce that it, together with its joint venture partners Talos Energy (operator) and Sierra Oil & Gas, has been awarded Blocks 2 and 7 in Mexico’s Round 1 held in Mexico City on 15 July. The Blocks contain numerous leads in established and emerging plays, located in the shallow water Sureste Basin, a proven and prolific hydrocarbon province in the Gulf of Mexico. Blocks 2 and 7 contain Tertiary clastic plays, typical of the Salinas sub-basin. The forward plan is to acquire, evaluate and reprocess 3D seismic data with a view to firming up drilling locations towards the end of 2016.
