Kongsberg Maritime Secures Several Major Contracts for HUGIN AUVs

Following a recent uptick in orders, Kongsberg Maritime’s Sensor and Robotics division has announced that it has secured over NOK 450M in contracts for HUGIN AUV in Q2 2022. The order income consists of a healthy mix of recurring business with existing customers and new customers that will utilize the HUGIN platform in their operations.

The Norwegian subsea survey and inspection company Argeo AS has further consolidated its warm business relationship with Kongsberg Maritime (KM) by acquiring another of KM’s HUGIN AUVs. The news comes a mere five months after it was confirmed that Argeo had signed the first commercial contract to deploy Eelume’s game-changing autonomous ‘snake robot’ – an advanced robotic solution developed in collaboration with Kongsberg Maritime as a majority shareholder.

Hydrographic and Geophysical Survey company Ocean Infinity has placed 3 separate orders for a total of five Kongsberg Maritime HUGIN Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Systems, increasing its inventory to 15. The AUVs are supplied with the latest generation Kongsberg Maritime HISAS 1032 synthetic aperture sonar, giving Ocean Infinity a total of 6 HUGINs with the ability to deliver high resolution imaging in its fleet.

The GEBCO-NF Alumni Team has completed the Technology Readiness Tests of the Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE using a combined Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) and Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) system. The goal of the XPRIZE challenge is to advance ocean technologies for rapid, unmanned and high-resolution ocean exploration and discovery.
