UTEC, a Geo-services brand in Acteon’s Data and Robotics division, has been awarded a three-year contract by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) to provide subsea balance of plant operations and maintenance (O&M) services to the Butendiek offshore wind farm. Led by UTEC, the work will be supported with services from Acteon brands Clarus, Deepwater and Seatronics.

Acteon Geo-services awarded floating wind site investigation by BlueFloat Energy and Renantis Partnership

TerraSond and Benthic, Geo-services brands in Acteon’s Data and Robotics division, have been awarded a combined geophysical and geotechnical survey work scope by the BlueFloat Energy and Renantis Partnership for its Bellrock and Broadshore wind farms northeast of Aberdeen, Scotland. BlueFloat Energy and Renantis joined forces to develop floating offshore wind projects in response to last year’s ScotWind licensing round. When operational, the Bellrock and Broadshore wind farms will have capacities of 1200 and 900 MW, respectively.

Benthic, a product and service line brand within Acteon’s Geo-services segment, is launching the next generation of its portable, remotely operated drill: PROD5. To increase productivity and cut costs for the offshore renewable energy industry, PROD5 has radical new functionality, including nearly double the tool load of previous systems and a drill enhancement package (DEP). First deployment is expected in Q3 2022.

Acteon Acquires Oceaneering Decommissioning Personnel and Assets

Claxton, the lead brand for Acteon’s drilling and decommissioning segment, has signed an agreement with Oceaneering to acquire decommissioning personnel and assets from them. From the anticipated closure date of 30 March 2022, certain Oceaneering staff based in Norway will transfer to Claxton, along with decommissioning assets including well and pile abrasive cutting and recovery systems and associated tooling. Conductor drilling, pinning and cutting systems, diamond wire saws, dredges and various ancillary equipment items are also included in the deal. The equipment will initially be deployed from Acteon’s bases in Norway, Dubai (UAE) and Aberdeen (UK).

MENCK to Partner with Van Oord on the Installation of Italy’s First Offshore Wind Farm

MENCK, the lead brand for the foundations and cables business segment within marine energy and infrastructure services company Acteon, has signed a contract with Dutch marine contractor Van Oord to deliver the hammer spread for the installation of the Taranto offshore wind farm, Italy’s first. The installation of 10 monopiles, each supporting a 3-MW turbine, will begin in Q3 2021 using the MPI Resolution and is expected to take 16 days. MENCK will supply one MHU 800S hydraulic hammer spread, including service technicians.

TerraSond Completes First Geophysical Survey for Mayflower Wind

TerraSond, an Acteon company, has completed a high-resolution geophysical survey for Mayflower Wind, a joint venture between Shell New Energies US LLC and EDPR Offshore North America LLC. The two-month campaign, which began in July 2019, surveyed an area, 20 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, USA, that can support up to 1,600 MW of offshore wind. The wind farm is scheduled to deliver energy in the mid-2020s and has the potential to power up to 680,000 homes. The project is TerraSond’s first with Mayflower Wind.

Benthic awarded TechnipFMC geotechnical contract offshore Mozambique

Benthic, a global geosciences company and part of Acteon, has secured an offshore geotechnical and geophysical contract from TechnipFMC for the Golfinho development, a deepwater discovery off the coast of Mozambique that will be developed as a subsea system tied back to an onshore liquefied natural gas facility.
