Invitation to RRS Discovery in London event 8th-9th October 2015

25.09.2015
This year the Natural Environment Research Council is marking its 50th anniversary with a series of events. As part of this, the Royal Research Ship Discovery will be in London, berthed alongside HMS Belfast. There will be a series of activities on board Discovery that showcase some of NERC’s research and technology achievements over the past 50 years.

You are invited to come along to see some of the innovative deep sea technology that UK oceanographers are using to explore the marine environment - particularly our autonomous vehicles and gliders.

National Oceanography Centre scientists, engineers and technologists will be among the NERC researchers on hand to talk about their science and discoveries. This includes our recent work in the Whittard Canyon mapping with Autosub6000, filming and photographing deep sea corals with the UK’s deepest diving research ROV, Isis.

If you are interested in joining us in London and coming on board on Thursday 8th October and Friday 9th October, please let me know by contacting the National Oceanography Centre’s communications team on 023 8059 6100 and email: Communications@noc.ac.uk
