Invest in people
Through our QHSE systems, Atlas ensures that our workforce are fully trained and meet the requirements of competency. Training increases the much needed industry knowledge while competency (management) ensures that professionals have all skills needed to be able to perform at the expected level. Atlas has training agreements with a number of training providers, enabling professionals the opportunity to increase their knowledge.

Atlas Competency Scheme
In the last years, an increasing demand for an accredited Competency Management System (CMS) for professionals became apparent. Professionals are searching for the possibility to further develop but find that without an accredited CMS it can be challenging to remain motivated and focused, let alone prove development through accreditation. Clients (and their end-clients) are searching for a system enabling the possibility to recognize accredited competency, this way assuring that the professional on site is competent to partake in the team responsible to carry out the required tasks at hand.

Atlas endeavoured to meet the increased demand which led to the development of our Atlas’ Competency Scheme (ACS). The accredited scheme follows the IMCA guidelines and grading and can therefore be recognised across the various industries.

ACS (Atlas Competency Scheme) fundaments are based on competence development through education, training and very important on the job exposure. The function(s) and gradation(s) for which a professional can apply depend on their level of competence. The functions Atlas’ currently covers within our ACS are Surveyor, Data Processor, Survey Engineer, Geophysicist, Party Chief and Client Representative. From grade II entry level to Grade I or, when more experienced senior, there is a development programme suited for every professional.

Throughout the ACS process, the participant will be assessed on skills and knowledge. The process includes assessments of execution of work activities in the work place and answering work activity specific questions, generating a variety of evidence demonstrating understanding of activities and generating evidence to support operational experience. Feedback sessions will identify areas of improvement, confirm competence & identify further action plans.

After a year of preparation, the Atlas Competency Scheme (ACS) was launched on the 17th of December 2014. To date we have a number of professionals holding various grades with many more already in the process of obtaining their grading. The professionals undergo the process on their own accord, with the assistance of Atlas. ACS is considered to be a value added service with the hope and expectation of developing into an industry standard this way improving industry performance.
