Aberdeen-headquartered Ashtead Technology has secured a deal with leading international contractor Van Oord to provide the latest generation of video processing systems for worldwide offshore construction operations.

The agreement will see Ashtead supply five SubC Imaging DVRO systems to the Dutch-based company, allowing them to record multiple 3D, HD and SD video channels simultaneously for future offshore construction, dredging and marine engineering projects.

Built to deliver vivid video footage in real-time, add overlays, stream video and audio over a secure network, the DVRO system provides high quality footage of the underwater world. The system is also fitted with a remote technical support function to provide live, around the clock assistance.

A world-leader in video technology used to monitor the integrity of subsea assets and infrastructure, SubC Imaging provides state-of-the art cameras with HD video capabilities that can capture and transmit high quality data from extreme water depths.

Ashtead was has been a global distributor of SubC Imaging products since 2011 and last year invested over $300,000 in upgrading their fleet of visual inspection tools for deep sea exploration.

Ross MacLeod, business development director at Ashtead Technology said: “The SubC DVRO is the most comprehensive and complete media management solution on the market. It has been designed from the ground up, incorporating customised software and hardware to create a seamless technological solution for visual subsea monitoring.

“Its easy-to-use interface ensures all data is gathered and saved for a quick power-down, power-up cycle.”

Ron Collier, vice president of business development at SubC Imaging commented: “SubC takes great pride in listening to its clients and delivering the highest quality products built around their specific requirements. The SubC DVRO is an example of just that, providing one of the most cost effective and feature-rich media management systems specifically designed for use with underwater visual systems. The product has been widely adopted as the preferred solution for clients conducting subsea operations around the world.”

Established in 1868, Van Oord has a long history in marine engineering, specialising in dredging activities and offshore projects in some of the world’s most challenging environments. The DVRO system will allow Van Oord to perform in-depth inspections during marine construction activities.

Following a field trial in the Netherlands, the DVRO systems were custom built to meet Van Oord’s requirements.

Through the delivery of enhanced technical support services, Ashtead Technology is committed to delivering a range of value-added services which now include the supply of offshore personnel, equipment sales, complete asset management, calibration, repair and maintenance, custom engineering, cable moulding and training.
