Transmark Subsea acquires WiSub, enables wireless underwater drone docking

Connectivity in the underwater environment is the mission for Norwegian companies Transmark Subsea and WiSub; their combined forces deliver unprecedented automation capabilities to the blue growth sector internationally. Both companies have been key equipment and service providers to underwater intervention drone (UID™) docking stations since 2018. This convergence of mature cable and connector manufacturing and design with innovative wireless underwater power and data transfer systems ensures reliable delivery of turnkey docking solutions. These systems support subsea automation, especially for enabling underwater drones to remain persistently resident at the underwater work site but operated safely from shore.

Universal AUV Connection through international R&D collaboration

A universal interface to facilitate Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) docking with subsea structures is being developed through international collaboration between companies and universities in Brazil, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the UK. The consortium, led by WiSub, includes leaders from industry and academia; Bergen University, DOF Subsea, easySubsea, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Kongsberg Maritime, Saab Dynamics, Sonardyne, Statoil, Swire Seabed and Warsaw University of Technology.

International Collaboration for Optimization of ROV Operations

Two Norwegian companies have embarked on development and testing of a new underwater power & data connection system that will reduce cost and improve efficiency of vessel-based offshore ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) operations. DOF Subsea, a leading provider of integrated subsea services and WiSub, an innovative subsea solutions company, have begun cooperation on the development and testing of WiSub’s pinless connection systems in an international initiative to set a new standard in subsea connection.
